Sunday the 16th December saw our intrepid travellers meet at K-Mart Kurulta Park at the gentlemanly hour of 10 am. With 16 vehicles starting out on the mystery southern cruise. We headed along Marion Road and then up into the hills at Flagstaff Hill. Onto Chandlers Hill Road and then we cut across to Clarendon via Grants Gully, on through Kangarilla and McLaren Flat. So far we were doing well no cyclists or road works, we pushed on through McLaren Vale and Willunga and arrived at our morning tea destination the bakery at Mt Compass. The front car park and footpath is under re development so we had to be content standing and chatting. I am reliably told that the sausage rolls were particularly good. Suitably refreshed and rejuvenated we placed Sean in charge for the second leg which took us along Nagkita Road and on towards Goolwa, a couple of our intrepid travellers missed the turn just outside Goolwa towards Pt Elliott so we stopped and waited for their return. We then pushed onto Middleton, Pt Elliott and Victor Harbor where we took the ring route out to Inman Valley finally arriving at our destination the Yankalilla Hotel. At this point the heavens opened up and someone (Goof) had left his roof off. We had the place pretty much to ourselves and were able to spread out and converse as we dined. All in all a very pleasant way to spend a Sunday.
